【About Fujishima Tomoshige(藤島友重)】
・Fujishima Tomoshige was a student of Rai Kunitoshi(来国俊)and moved to Echizen in the middle of the Kamakura period (1324). The Fujishima family has been a prestigious swordsmith family for 540 years until the end of the Edo period.
・This sword is certified as a Shinto(新刀) by NBTHK and is the work of the 8th to 10th generation Fujishima Tomoshige, making it a very popular piece.
・One of the characteristics of Tomoshige Fujishima’s works is that they show glimpses of Yamato-style(大和風) or Yamashiro-style(山城風) ground iron. This piece also has “Itame-hada” (板目肌) and “Masame-hada” (柾目肌). In general, the ground iron is well wrought, and the skin patterns of the iron are beautifully expressed.

・The blade is in excellent condition.
・Suguha(straight blade pattern) is very beautifully raised, allowing you to experience the beauty of Japanese swords.
