【Summary】

・Very well crafted Japanese sword(Katana) made by Kanesaki(兼先).

・The sword is authenticated by NBTHK(Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai) as “Hozon Token(Special Valuable Sword)”. The certificate paper is included in the set.

・Koshirae’s workmanship is very good and venerable.

 

 

【About Kanesaki(兼先)】

・Kanesaki’s home country is Mino, starting around 1521 (500 years ago) during the Muromachi period (1521-1521). During the Edo period, like many Mino smiths, he was invited by local feudal lords and moved to various places. He is a swordsmith who has consistently been highly regarded for his abilities.

・The author, Kanesaki, was a swordsmith who made swords at the same time as Nosada (之定) and Magoroku Kanemoto(孫六兼元), and is said to be as good as them in swordsmithing ability. He is now highly regarded by true Japanese sword enthusiasts who prefer the workmanship of the sword itself to name recognition.

 

【Blade/condition】

・The blade is in excellent condition that allows you to experience the beauty of Japanese swords.

・The forged skin of this sword has the taste of Masame-hada(柾目肌) of the Yamato(大和) tradition, and it is believed to be the work in Mino place.

・ the Hamon(刃紋) has a beautiful “Gunomemidare(互の目乱れ)” and is in very good condition, and is considered to be one of the best swords made by Kanesaki.

【Koshirae】

・Koshirae is very beautiful and in excellent condition.

・It is engraved with the crest of the Sanada family, represented by Yukimura Sanada(真田幸村). Yukimura Sanada played an active role in the Osaka Summer Battle between Toyotomi(豊臣) and Tokugawa(徳川), and came within one step of driving Ieyasu Tokugawa(徳川家康) to the brink.

・This KOSHIRAE is engraved with the Sanada family crest, “Rokumon-sen(六文銭)” and “Musubi Karigane(結び雁金)”.

・Rokumon-sen(六文銭) is a ferry fare on the Sanzu River(三途の川), which separates the living from the dead.

・It is said to indicate that Sanada’s army was determined to fight without fear of death at any time.

・The wings are tied round to indicate a bird with a letter tied to it.

・This bird is famous as a bird that brings happiness, and the Sanada family used this family crest a lot in peacetime.
