Legal Status of Japanese Swords

All items sold on this site are genuine works of art, not weapons.

Each sword(Katana) is officially classified as a cultural artifact under Japanese law, and is accompanied by a Juho Token Rui Torokusho (銃砲刀剣類登録証)—a government-issued certificate of registration that confirms its legal status as an artistic object. We only handle swords that have obtained this certificate.

These swords are not allowed to be used as weapons, and if we determine that there is a possibility of misuse, we reserve the right to refuse sale.

For international shipments, we follow all legal procedures required by the Japanese government. Before exporting any sword overseas, we obtain an Official Export Certificate(輸出監査証明書) issued by the Agency for Cultural Affairs (文化庁). This process ensures official government approval for international export.

Thanks to this procedure, importing these swords is legally permitted in most countries.
Please note, however, that due to local regulations, export to China and Russia is not possible.

If you have further questions about the legal handling or import process, feel free to contact us—we are happy to assist.
